· The title says it. but i can add a network adapter and such, but i cant find the lan segment option. i have used vmware before and used this feature, but have they moved/removed it? i am connecting to a remote server and hosting a Windows 2012 R2 server. LAN Segment IP Addresses Each network client must have an IP address for TCP/IP networking. Unlike host-only and NAT networking, LAN segments have no DHCP server provided automatically by VMware Workstation. Therefore you must manually configure IP addressing for team virtual machines on a LAN segment. There are two choices.
LAN Segments To configure LAN segments 1. Choose Team > Settings. 2. Click LAN Segments. From this tab you can add, remove, and rename the LAN segments configured for the team. You can also configure network transmission properties for the LAN segment from this tab. The list in the left pane displays LAN segments associated with the team.

VMware player is freeware; VMware workstation & VMware fusion are commercial. Both solutions work on Linux & Windows hosts, and both support Linux & Windows guests. However, Virtualbox also supports OSX as a host & guest. Whereas VMware fusion is the only product which VMware currently offers which supports OSX host & guest.
